Birthday cake dot to dot

A printable birthday cake dot to dot: 40 numbered points to join, then a picture to colour in, on US Letter and A4.

Joining 40 numbered points draws the outline of a two-tier cake with scalloped frosting on a plate, three lit candles on top. The marks inside it are already on the page, so the picture is recognisable while the child is still working out where number 20 goes.

The numbers run around the outside of the shape and each sits clear of the line it belongs to, so a pencil following the sequence never covers up the next one.

The outline is the silhouette of the whole figure rather than one part of it, which is why the finished line closes on itself and can be coloured in afterwards.

Nothing here is scanned or traced from a picture. The drawing is generated from geometry, so the same figure also exists as a plain coloring page and as a colour by number.
